What will it cost me?

How can it be free to join?

It is free to join.  We are a cooperative operating as a not-for-profit.  We give back all of the rebates after administrative expenses.  For the past 6 years, we have given back 100% of the stockholder’s rebates.

Stockholder vs. Associate Member

Everyone joins as an Associate.  When you have accumulated $500 in rebates, we will ask you to buy ONE share of stock.  Our cooperative is owned by our Stockholders, equally.  Stockholders receive deviated pricing, vendor rebates, manufacturer rebates and Pepsi rebates.  Associates receive everything except vendor rebates.

If you leave, for any reason, your stock will be voided and your $500 refunded.  So, it is a no-brainer to become a Stockholder.

Who pays your salary?

The system automatcially allocates rebate money to the member.  At the end of the year, if the office hasn’t collected enough to pay expenses, we must deduct what is necessary from the member rebate checks.

How does the office earn money?

Some of our contracts enable the office to earn volume incentives.   When we reach a total purchasing volume, the office receives a check.  This money is used to pay the office expenses.
How does it work?

Is this a scam?

No, most definitely not!  We have been in business for over 30 years and returned millions in rebates back to our members.   We have over 500 members who enjoy the benefits of the membership.  Many of our members have been with us since the beginning.
What do I get?

Am I required to buy from PGE UNY approved vendors?

No, we don’t require it but we DEFINITELY encourage it.  You are not required to buy from our partners or buy any specific brands.  However, to maximize your benefits we encourage our members to buy from our partners to be in a powerful negotiating position to get you and your fellow members the best deals possible.

When do I get my checks?

Vendor and Pepsi checks are mailed annually in March.  Manufacturer rebate checks are mailed annually in August.

Why do I have an N on my statement?

“N” means you are not entitled to the vendor rebate with this distributor for this month.  Per our contract, if  you pay late (outside of your credit terms) or with a credit card, you will not get your vendor rebate.
The Board

Who runs PGE UNY?

The Board of Directors.  The Board is made up of 6-12 stockholder members.  See who is on The Board?

Can I be a Board Member?

Absolutely.  In October, nomination forms will be sent to all Stockholders. To qualify, a Stockholder member must be in good standing, own at least 25% of his/her restaurant and purchase over $150,000 on program, annually.

All nominees are submitted to the Board.  In the first week of November, a General Assembly Meeting is held and new Board position are voted on by stockholders in attendance or mailed in proxy.
